Installation Instructions for Lotus Domino 8.x

Description

This document provides instructions for installing SSL Certificates for Lotus Domino. If you are unable to use these instructions for your server, Symantec recommends that you contact either the vendor of your software or an organization that supports Lotus Domino.
 

Step 1: Download the SSL Certificate & Intermediate CA Certificate

  1. Download the certificate from Symantec Trust Center account.
  2. The ZIP file you downloaded contains the following certificates:
    Note: Select the server platform as Other when downloading the certificate.
    • SSL certificate (i.e. ssl_certificate.cer, also known as end entity certificate, public key certificate, digital certificate or identity certificate).
    • Intermediate CA certificate (i.e. IntermediateCA.cer, also known as chained certificate or signer/issuer of the SSL certificate).
  3. Unzip the files onto the server where you will install the certificate.
 
Step 2: Download and Install the Root and Intermediate CA Certificate
 
Note: Ensure that the correct Root and Intermediate CA certificate has been selected for your SSL product.
To check which certificate type you have purchased, follow the steps from this link: SO13499
  1. Download the Root CA certificate from this link: SO4785
  2. Save the file as TrustedRoot.txt
  3. Rename the IntermediateCA.cer obtain from Step 1 to IntermediateCA.txt
  4. From the Lotus Notes client, open the Server Certificate Admin application
  5. Click Install Trusted Root Certificate into Key Ring


     
  6. Enter the name of the key ring file that will store this certificate. You specified this name when you created the CSR
  7. Import your Trusted Root Certificate (TrustedRoot.txt). You may see a message that your root certificate is already installed. If this happens, just continue to the next step.


     
  8. Click Merge Trusted Root Certificate into Key Ring
  9. Enter the password for the key ring file, and then click OK
  10. Once again, choose the option to "Install Trusted Root Certificate into Key Ring".
  11. You should now install your Intermediate Certificate files
  12. Repeat the above steps to install the previously saved as IntermediateCA.txt 
  13. Enter the password for the key ring file, and then click OK
     
Step 3: Merging a server certificate into the key ring file
  1. From the Lotus Notes client, open the Server Certificate Admin application
  2. Click Install Certificate into Key Ring


     
  3. Enter the file name for the key ring that will store this certificate. You created this key ring file when you created the Certificate Signing Request
  4. Rename the SSL certificate obtain from Step 1 to ssl_certificate.txt
  5. Enter name of the key ring, and then import your SSL Certificate ssl_certificate.txt file

  6. Click Merge Certificate into Key Ring
  7. Enter the password for the server key ring file, and then click OK to approve the merge
  8. Your certificate is now installed and ready to use on your IBM Domino Server.
  9. To verify if your certificate is installed correctly, use the Symantec Installation Checker
