Guidelines for replacing SHA-1 with SHA-2 certificates on Symantec Trust Center

Solution ID:    SO26402    Updated:    10/28/2016

Solution

Major browsers including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox will stop supporting these certificates which may mean no access to web sites with SHA-1 certificate.

Symantec recommends the following:

  1. Identify certificates that have a SHA-1 algorithm using the SSL Toolbox
  2. Replace any SHA-1 certificates that expire beyond December 31 2015 with SHA-2 certificates at no additional cost. For more information, please refer to Knowledge Center article SO7146.
