  • Norton Safe Web search results show grey Norton icon after Norton Secured Seal has been properly installed on site.
  • Norton Safe Web Full report  shows that site is untested after Norton Secured Seal has been properly installed on site.
  • Norton Seal-In-Search has been turned off

Full report results green tested no seal (Example):

Cause

The Norton Secured Seal may not display due to the following reasons:

  • Norton Safe Web Scan can take up to 2 weeks for it to scan a site installed with a Norton Secured Seal in order for seal to display in search results
  • Seal-In-Search is not a feature when seal is purchased through Yahoo Hosting. Customers should not expect the Seal-In-Search function to work when purchased through a reseller.
  • The Seal-In-Search function is turned off in their Symantec Trust Center
  • Malware has been found on website and must be removed in order for Norton Secured Seal to appear.

Solution

Norton Safe Web can take up to 2 weeks for its web server to scan the web site that has been installed with the Norton Secured Seal for the first time.

  • Allow 2 weeks for scanning to occur from date of purchase.
  • Activate Trust Seal Services in your Symantec Trust Center
  • Remove Malware.

To activate your Norton Secured Seal in Symantec Trust Center perform the following:

  1. Sign into your Symantec Trust Center here:
  2. Once logged in, click the Malware Scanning tab
  3. Under Seal Services, click Set Preferences
  4. Select the website to want to configure Seal Services for
  5. Select "I want Norton Secured Seal with website malware scanning and Symantec Seal-In-Search"
  6. Click Save
  7. Click Done

    Example:

If the Norton Secured Seal was turned off due to malware

  1. Refer to Article INFO1269 on "How to Remove Malware from your Web Server."
Once your malware scan has passed, your seal will return after 24 hours.

Norton Safe Site testing

A site can be green "Tested" and still not have Norton Secured Seal for the following reasons:

  • Norton Safe Site testing is performed by Norton once a site achieves a certain threshold of searches for that domain using Norton Safe Web and does not require the Norton Secured Seal
  • Being a web site owner and registering with the Norton Safe Web
